Where to eat and drink when visiting Piedmont

If you're looking for a delicious meal in Piedmont, you'll be spoiled for choice. There are many great restaurants in the area, serving up everything from traditional Italian fare to international cuisine. If you're not sure where to start, here are some of our favorites.

Vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba

Osteria More e Macine in La Morra

If you're looking for a delicious and authentic Italian dining experience, look no further than Osteria More e Macine. From the moment you walk in, you'll feel like part of the local winemakers who probably will be sitting next to you. In summer you can hide from the sun on the patio under a huge sail.

And the food? It's simple, but great. Whether you're in the mood for a traditional pasta, risotto or vitello tonnato then Osteria More e Macine has got you covered. Personally, we keep coming back for the bolognese. It’s also worth noting that most of the dishes here don’t cost more then 8-15 euros, so you can spend more of your money on wine.

Speaking of wine, the wine list is obviously both long and deep here. Not only do they have “all” of the great wines from the region, but they even have a decent selection of Burgundy, which is particularly nice if you want a great white wine in between all the heavy Nebbiolos.

Location: Via XX Settembre, 18, 12064 La Morra CN
Opening hours: 11AM-1AM Monday to Sunday

L’Osteria del Vignaiolo in La Morra

Another excellent option is L'Osteria del Vignaiolo. This charming eatery on the hillside of La Morra serves up classic regional dishes such as multiple pasta options, beef tartare and even seafood like scallops. It can be considered somewhat more upscale than More e Macine, but it’s still fair priced. The food is simply excellent, and they have what must be some of the best dessert options in town. If you’re visiting in summer, make sure to sit outside in their garden.

Here too, the wine list is obviously impressive, and if you know what you are looking for you can find some well priced treasures, such as multiple cuvees of Sandrone to just over 100 euros.

Location: Frazione S. Maria, 12, 12064 La Morra CN

Vinoteca Centro Storico in Serralunga d’Alba

Moving from the La Morra region to Serralunga d’Alba it’s impossible not to mention this place which has attracted wine and food enthusiasts for many years. Obviously these guys serve great pasta, but they also serve some of the best meat in town.

If you are really looking to find some extraordinary wines and you don’t have a budget, then we challenge you to find a better selection of wines such as Giacomo Conterno’s Monfortino. If you are a budget, there are still a lot of great purchases to be made, and at Centro Storico you also find a decent selection of known and unknown Champagnes.
